Office Communicator w/LiveCam or LiveChat

I’ve got Microsoft’s LiveCam for my laptop and its a great camera.  The button on top when pressed starts Live Messenger and not Office Communicator.

This “fixes” that and launches Communicator instead.

Now if only they (or someone) could make an IE/Firefox plug-in for using Communicator to automatically call phone numbers listed on webpages, like the Skype client does, we’d have a great mobile communicator.

Office Communicator Phone update wackiness

When updating our Office Communication Phone edition phones to the latest release, I was running into the “Thread was being aborted” error message.

Jens’ article helped me solve it in no time.  My problem was actually memory.  I added another 256mb and it worked.

I did the web.config and IIS modifications anyway for good measure.

Within 15 minutes, my phone at home updated itself and I was a happy camper ;)

Thanks Jens!

  • Kerberos over TCP

Check out this Microsoft KB article.

If you are seeing Kerberos errors in your event log (add LogLevel DWORD value 1 in the same place to enable logging) this is your fix.

If you are seeing Error Code: 0×34 KRB_ERR_RESPONSE_TOO_BIG this is your fix too.

I was seeing this error mostly on my Sharepoint and OCS servers.

I made an enterprise wide group policy to set this using PolicyMaker.  PolicyMaker is great except it does not appear to work on x64 boxes.  Those I had to do manually.

This should also allow Kerberos to work over a VPN connection now too!
