The new RDP Client 6.0 caused me all sorts of grief.  That extra login prompt up front broke some of my utilities which I use daily, but our own standard Group Policy settings do not allow credentials to be passed anyway.

Until Longhorn is truly a reality, and to fix any utilities which you have which can’t work with the new Remote Desktop Client 6.0, you can do the following to get it to work like it did before.

1. Go to your My Documents folder
2. Open the DEFAULT.RDP in your favorite text editor
3. Add the following line:
• EnableCredSSPSupport:i:0
4. If you are using Vista, also change “authentication level:i:2” to “authentication level:i:0”
